Book Launch Recap

We are happy to say that the launch of I Saw Bigfoot is in the books! And what an incredible launch week it was. What made it so incredible was all the love we felt coming through the special messages and encouragement we got from our readers.

Toward the end of the launch week, we were able to participate in a special event at our friends’ homestead in Northfield. Rory and Becca Groves are passionate about their Gather & Grow ministry, which helps families build their own family economies. They hosted a Farm and Family Fair and invited us to set up a vendor table with our books. It was great to meet new people and to share what we are doing at Talya Press. So many lovely families were vendoring at the fair, and we all left feeling inspired by the creative ways these families are doing family economy together.

At the fair, Rory and Becca graciously put us up in their camper right on their property. Once we unloaded and set up our table, we couldn’t wait to meet the other vendors and explore their goods.

We enjoyed seeing all the kids’ creative skills at work, from metal art and woodcrafts to weaving and concrete planters. Other families were selling baked goods, pottery, homemade tea mixes, and the list goes on!

At the fair, they had a petting zoo, live demonstrations including blacksmithing and pottery, and live music that several of the children prepared. Hope even got to do an impromptu performance of a song she wrote called “Our Men”. (You can hear it on her Instagram when she sang it in church the next day.) To top it off, each day ended with a pie contest. Lots of good ol’ fashioned fun!

At our table, we set up all the books we’ve published as well as the Stinky Stiggy book that Hope illustrated for another author. Hope did a couple of interactive drawing tutorials of her characters with some of the children. We also gave away stick-on mustaches (in Mr. Skandinoovy style), bookmarks, crayons and coloring pages from Baby Adventurer and Mr. Skandinoovy.

It goes without saying, but our hearts were full by the time we left The Grovestead on Saturday afternoon. As we neared home on our drive back, we were struck by this majestic rainbow in the sky, so we had to pull over in the rain to take it all in. A sweet reminder of the goodness of our God!

If you missed the launch of I Saw Bigfoot, jump on over to our book store and pick up a copy! We want to give a big THANK YOU to all of you who have already ordered your copies and have shown your support.
